As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Gilbert, AZ, my goal is to help individuals, couples and families break free from what’s holding them back from moving forward into the life they’ve always imagined. Together, we will gain an understanding of those issues that are keeping you or your family from being at their very best. My practice is focused on providing my clients with a space where they can feel safe and trust that all that is shared is absolutely confidential.
While working together, you can expect us to create a treatment plan that not only meets your specific needs, but that will also be easy to implement, with your help of course. I will help you identify your strengths and weaknesses when addressing the best way to work together. I strongly believe in the evidence-based benefits of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness Therapy, and the Gottman Method & Family Systems. Don’t be initmated by these terms or methods, as I will help guide you through the process and together we will achieve an amazing outcome.
The Gottman Method is an approach to couples therapy that includes a thorough assessment of the couple relationship and integrates research-based interventions based on the Sound Relationship House Theory. John and Julie Gottman have spent over 30 years studying couples both in their laboratory and during thousands of sessions with struggling couples. The goals of Gottman Method Couples Therapy are to disarm conflicting verbal communication, increase intimacy, respect, and affection, remove barriers that create a feeling of stagnancy in conflicting situations, and create a heightened sense of empathy and understanding within the context of the relationship.
There is no traditional identified patient; the focus is on relationship patterns and communication among family members. For example, when a child has a behavior problem a family therapist is likely to perceive the child’s difficulties within the larger context of the family system, rather than his/her individual deficits. During family therapy, therapists avoid blaming any individual family member for the problem, and instead help the family interact in new, different ways that may improve functioning.
CBT is based on the idea that our thoughts determine our feelings, which in turn result into actions. We will examine, challenge, and adjust your thoughts to facilitate cognitive change. CBT is especially helpful in treating depression, anxiety, and negative self-esteem.
We currently accept Aetna, Cigna, United Healthcare, UMR, and most comprehensive Blue Cross Blue Shield plans. Every insurance plan is different. When you fill out your initial paperwork, you will submit a copy of your insurance card so I can contact your insurance company and verify eligibility of benefits. Uninsured patients or patients that prefer private pay can benefit from discounted rates and package savings. In addition we are in the process of providing affordable payment plans through a well respected third party.
